Last week I found a couple of days spare to take a look at where we were with Cambo’s engine bay. Even after the marathon cleaning session that Stu and Cam did the other week there was still a lot of oil and accumulated road grime to clean up before it was ready for paint. Whilst at it I welded up all the unrequired holes in the arches and made up a new battery mount. I could have gone crazy and welded up every little hole that wasnt required around the strut towers but it’s suprisingly time-consuming. After that a … Continue reading
After the disappointment that was Round 1 the JD was back up and running again with a new engine and an improved cooling set up. The Saturday morning came so we got loaded up and started the long drive down to Teesside for the second round of the Northern Drift Championship. As the event didn’t start until the Sunday afternoon we took the opportunity to sample the local cuisine. After a curry that would leave Kinghorn’s ring-piece burning for the next 24 hours we proceeded to stumble into every pub that required a bus pass to be served in. With … Continue reading
Having finished mounting the FMIC and fabricating the boost pipes we were now ready to take the engine out. We removed the loom completely as this will be getting re-routed. This is to make sure the wheel won’t eat through it, like Stu came to find out last year leaving Stu and I to cut, repair, extend and reroute his loom outside my house in winter conditions. With that all done we got the engine crane out, strapped up the engine and began to lift it out. A couple minutes later and the engine was on the ground. Stu and … Continue reading
After the disaster that was Round 1 of the NDC, I was faced with the decision of whether to rebuild my engine or to buy a replacement unit. I came to the conclusion that having a spare engine would be the best way to go and that buying a replacement would have me back on the go the day after it arrived. After a quick trawl of the forums I spoke to a rather helpful Gav from Driftbitz who sorted me out with an 80k engine from an auto S14. 7eam Chizfab ensured the safe return of my car a few … Continue reading
The British Drift Championship is the biggest drifting competition in the UK attracting an astounding amount of drivers. This season is no different, with a total of 110 cars entered in the first round of the competition. Drivers came from all over Britain, some even from Europe. My day started at 5:30am as Gogzy from Trampdrift came to pick me up to head down to Teesside. Considering I’d got home at 2am that morning, it was safe to say I was pretty tired. I picked up my camera equipment and bungled myself into Gogzy’s car. The aim was to get … Continue reading
It’s been quite a while since the last update on the PS13. It’s been sitting broken and looking very sorry for itself over the winter. With the JD back up and running we all jumped in and started working to get the Silvia’s heart pumping again. While we had the chance, we planned to make a number of upgrades. First up was to mount the R32 GTR intercooler. Dunkz and I spent some time working out the best position for the FMIC. With this decided we fabricated up some mounts and welded them to the body. Fitting the R32 FMIC … Continue reading
A few weeks back we spotted the perfect pair of wheels for Ryan’s 110. They’d actually been up for sale for some time but strangely no takers, so Ryan whipped out his big pimping snake skin wallet and bought himself a nice pair of Weds Kranze Cerberus to sit on the rear of his JZX. That was the easy part, finding a 2nd pair to go on the front was going to be an issue, especially ones that would fit the meager amount of space that a 110 comes with. Fortunately it was only a matter of weeks before a … Continue reading
It has been a while since the previous drift day at Crail. These Crail days are the grass roots of drifting in Scotland. Through the years, the event organised by SXOC has increased in popularity. This is where most novices come to learn and veterans come to hone their drifting skills. Our very own Stu was looking good out on the track and his performance was getting better and better throughout the day. His driving has improved vastly over the past few years at Crail, so I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses through the rest of the season. … Continue reading
The Northern Drift Championship is a new entry into the drifting calender. It was designed as an entry level drift competition. This series is based solely at the Teeside Autodrome, which is renowned for being a great track for spectators as well as drivers. The event has 3 classes as with other drift championships. Since this is an open championship the field will be divided during qualifying. The driver will then be placed into the Novice, Semi-Pro or Pro class. Both Novice and Semi-Pro classes will be ran individually and there will be no twin drifting. The only twinning is … Continue reading
After a few months of hard work on the car I found myself in a position where I could see the finish line. It was at this point that Teesside announced a small 4 round drift series that fitted in with my working life, which is a rare oppurtunity. I drew up a list of jobs left to get the car finished, which made my finish line start to fade in obscurity. Many of the parts going onto the car hadn’t even had a chance for a trial fit. As it goes with doing so much to a car in … Continue reading
